“Writ large” or “At large” …commonly confused!

Writ large means clear and obvious …“Large white letters spelling ‘Hollywood’ are writ large on the Hollywood hills.” … “The look of disappointment was writ large on the team’s faces.”…“The new Tesla model is American styling writ large.”

At large means in general “There will always be a few bad apples but this doesn’t reflect the medical community at large.”

Or (often in politics) overall without regard to subdivisions “He was elected Newark city councilman-at-large.”
